The Municipality of Huron Shores has announced a reduction in outflows from the Red Rock Dam, though authorities continue to urge caution due to ongoing high-flow events NEWS RELEASE MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES ***************************** We are providing the following update based on information from system operators managing regional dam infrastructure. At this time, outflows from Red Rock Dam are in the process of being decreased by approximately 120 cubic metres per second (cms). The anticipated flow rate moving forward is approximately 640cms (+/- 25cms). This remains a high-flow event, and conditions can still change depending on weather and other environmental factors, continued caution is advised. The Rydal Bank Dam is no longer at emergency levels. Water levels along the Thessalon River system have generally been declining since yesterday and continue to show improvement. Public Safety Reminders – For Residents and Visitors: River currents remain extremely fast and potentially dangerous, especially near shorelines and at trail access points. Please adhere to all signage and barriers, and use caution near any waterways, culverts, or flooded areas. If you’re able, consider checking in on neighbours or seasonal residents who may not be following updates closely. Sharing accurate information goes a long way in keeping everyone safe and aware. To report any urgent issues related to this event after hours over the weekend, please contact Public Works at 705-542-6053. We appreciate how residents continue to look out for one another—it makes a difference. Thank you. Further updates will be shared as they become available. *****************************
