Nuno Espirito Santo Signs New Contract with Nottingham Forest Until 2028

Nottingham Forest's head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, has officially signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. This decision comes on the heels of an impressive season during which he led the team to a remarkable seventh-place finish in the league, marking their highest position in 30 years. Moreover, his leadership has earned the team qualification for a UEFA European competition for the first time since the 1995/96 season.
In a statement released on the official club website, Nuno expressed his enthusiasm about extending his stay at the club, saying, “I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club.” He emphasized the hard work put in since his arrival, which fostered a strong connection between the players, the fans, and the entire club, paving the way for last season's achievements.
He also took the time to thank the club's owner, Mr. Marinakis, for his unwavering support, highlighting the importance of a solid relationship with ownership. “It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership, and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest,” he added, showcasing a commitment not just to results but to the club's culture and ethos.
Since his appointment as head coach in December 2023, Nuno has transformed Nottingham Forest's fortunes. When he took over, the club was languishing in 17th place, just five points above the relegation zone. Under his guidance, the team not only secured their safety in the 2023/24 season but also enjoyed a spectacular campaign last year. Notably, they were the only team to defeat the league champions, Liverpool, and Nuno himself was recognized with three Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month awards, the most of any manager in the 2024/25 season.
Looking ahead, Nottingham Forest will kick off their new campaign with a home match against Brentford on Saturday, August 16. Just five days later, they will face their first UEFA Conference League playoff match, with the second leg scheduled for Thursday, August 28. With the upcoming fixtures, the team is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting and competitive season.
