It said that its current reception area at the base on Coundon Edge Drive was housed in an 'old dilapidated container shed'. But now it has been given the go-ahead for a brand new reception. Not only will it be in a new building, it will also mean that there will be a designated area for visitors using there homing and veterinary services. In the planning application to Coventry City Council, it explained that the details of the new reception area. "Internally the space provides office admin space and waiting areas for visitors that will be segregated into cat and dog waiting. "A new accessible WC and quiet room provide additional areas as required for the business needs of the RSPCA. The new reception offers a dedicated area to allow for the RSPCA to continue with their daily activities and continued animal welfare and future care." "Working within a new single facility will enable the RSPCA improve sequence of operation and efficiency allowing for improved customer service and provision of animal care," the application states. "The facilities are seen as essential for the ongoing need for maintenance and support of services in Coventry and district area." In approving the application, the council said: "The proposed development is considered to be acceptable in principle and will not result in any significant impact upon neighbour amenity and highway safety, subject to relevant conditions and contributions."
