In a previous episode of the BBC programme, Denise encountered married couple Mark and Steve, who were trading their Cheshire residence for the tranquil vistas of Cumbria. The pair were on the hunt for a three-bedroom house with a budget of £380,000 which needed to include parking for at least two cars, an art room, a large garden for their annual Eurovision parties, and proximity to a railway station. But their demands didn't end there. Mark and Steve had a raft of deal-breakers: no small windows, a spacious and open interior, a kitchen designed for socialising, and plenty of room for their extravagant Eurovision outfits. Denise commented on their property specifications, saying: "Steve and Mark have a very extensive wish list, and when I say extensive, I mean extensive. This list is bigger than anything I've ever seen on Escape to the Country," she confessed. She went on: "So, I can't wait to find out how committed they are to this, and if they're really ready to swap that holiday vibe for their full-time lifestyle," reports the Express. With high hopes, Denise met up with Mark and Steve at Lake Windermere in the Lake District, unrolling a long piece of paper detailing their checklist. (Image: (Image: BBC)) "Before we get started, I need to get to the bottom of something. This wish list," Denise said teasingly as she began to detail Mark and Steve's rather ambitious list with a hint of jest. "Space for Steve's car, space for Mark's car, access to a train station, access to a village or a town but not in the centre of a village or a town, of course! Close to a pub, close to a second pub in case the first pub is closed, come on you two! Have you thought of everything?" Their response was equally light-hearted; Steve confirmed their "very sociable" nature and didn't shy away from their quixotic desire for space to keep a couple of alpacas. Denise, taken aback with playful disbelief, responded, "Are you for real? I love big dreams, but this is quite a list." The showcased homes included a farmhouse in Haverigg and an appealing semi-detached in Stank, before bringing them to an unexpected gem in Gleaston. Despite the comprehensive checklist, it turned out that Mark and Steve were willing to bend their initial vision for the elusive charm of discovering a place that rang true as their home.
