They have been warned that if they don't check their router and change their password, it could leave them more vulnerable to hacks and personal information breaches. ‌ This is due to the older platforms no longer being supported and not receiving vital security updates from this year, as initially spotted by ISPreview. ‌ Read more: Martin Lewis issues urgent £285 British Gas message and says 'cheapest' Customers with older routers will still receive broadband, allowing them to use internet services, but they have been urged to change the Hub admin password to reduce online risks when heading online. In an email sent to NOW customers, as seen by ISPreview, it said: "Please note, your Hub is no longer receiving security and service updates, or will stop receiving security updates by 2025. Article continues below "However, your Hub will continue to work as normal and will keep you connected to the internet. We recommend, as a minimum, changing your Hub admin password to reduce the risk of security threats. "This won’t change your WiFi password, just the password used to check your Hub details … From July 31st 2025, should your Hub develop a fault, we unfortunately won’t be able to provide a replacement. "If this happens, don’t worry, you’ll be able to end your service immediately without any termination fees." ‌ A final warning is being sent out to NOW users that the problem is if the router completely breaks, with the provider confirming that no replacements will be issued. Customers have been advised to either upgrade to a newer router from Sky's selection, or switch Internet Service Providers (ISPs) It's standard practice for ISPs release regular software upgrades, as this is to ensure that routers are properly secured, run smoothly and fix any potential bugs. The firm's speeds range from the basic 61Mbps downloads package right up to 900Mbps which would allow a user to download a movie in under 40 seconds, though customers will have to pay significantly more for the privilege.
