Shocking footage captured by a passenger on a flight bound for New York shows the moment that flight attendants were forced to restrain a woman after she attempted to break into the cockpit. The American Airlines flight was delayed taking off from Sao Paulo, Brazil last Thursday which triggered one of the smartly-dressed first-class passengers to start a fight by trying to speak to the pilot about her frustration with the delay. The door the the cockpit can be seen wide open as the flight crew struggle to close it and try to wrestle the woman to the floor. One of the crew members can be heard shouting “Get out, get out” as the woman attempts to muscle her way into the cockpit again. I went to ask why I was late and this [man] threw me out,’ she shouted at the male passenger according to flight magazine Aeroin. According to a flight tracking website, the argument further delayed the flight by over two hours. Both passengers were handed over to police after the plane returned to the boarding gate following the aggressive confrontation. The footage of the chaotic confrontation went viral on social media and has divided viewers. Their sense of entitlement is off the chart,” another wrote. However, some sided with the passenger who spoke out about the delayed flight. “Airlines could avoid outbursts like this by keeping passengers informed of the delay — updates at least every 30 minutes in cases like this. It’s actually surprising that more people don’t react like this out of frustration,” one person commented. “This is my kind of girl,” said another viewer. American Airlines released a statement confirming the flight returned to the boarding gate due to the plane’s safety being compromised. “On Thursday, 24th April, American Airlines Flight 950, operating from Sao Paulo (GRU) to New York (JFK), returned to the boarding gate prior to departure due to a safety problem on board.” The airline confirmed the flight took off eventually — two hours and 25 minutes later than its original departure time. It isn’t known if the two passengers were charged.
