The Hole in the Wall will reopen under new management. The pub, in North Sherwood Street, was previously run by a couple who said they were quitting with immediate effect last October to protect their "mental health, sanity and future". Aaron and Drew Grimshaw-Sparks took to social media at the time to say they'd decided to leave the pub trade and move on to pastures new. "With the ever-growing price increase on bills, stock and everything it takes to run on our own it is no longer viable for us to continue. We don’t want pity or signs of defeat, we just want our own home, a 9-5 job and to spend time with each other," they said. The new proprietors haven't been revealed but a message on the Hole of the Wall's new Facebook page said: "Exciting news! We will be reopening the fantastic Hole in The Wall soon. We are in the mix of giving the place a freshen up and a whole new look." The reopening date is still to be confirmed. The announcement went on to say: "Keep an eye on our new social media page on our grand opening date, upcoming events and more on the newly refreshed Hole in The Wall. We are so excited to welcome all customers when we open. Let’s get the word out!!" Under the helm of Aaron and Drew, the pub was LGBT-friendly and frequently hosted burlesque and drag queen nights, ‘Wicked’ Wednesday karaoke night and Pride events. Half a mile outside the city centre, the Hole in the Wall has a large outdoor patio, making it perfect for drinks in the sun, and the venue was also dog-friendly.
