More info Coronation Street's Amy Robbins recently returned to the Cobbles as Christina Boyd and has wasted no time in stirring up a lot of trouble. The actress has played the role of Christina on and off since 2023. It was confirmed earlier this year that Charlotte Jordan, who plays her on-screen daughter Daisy Midgeley, would be leaving the soap after four years. Despite having a turbulent relationship, Daisy reached out to her mother, insisting she needed help. For the first time, the mother and daughter have worked together as a duo, and unfortunately, Daisy's step mum Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is getting the brunt of it. She was trained at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) and has enjoyed an acting career spanning over four decades, She has starred in a long list of popular series including Where the Heart Is, Heartbeat, Hollyoaks, EastEnders, Holby City, Doctors, and Emmerdale. The 54-year-old star is also famed for starring as Dr Jill Weatherill in The Royal between 2003 and 2011. (Image: ITV) Her brother Ted has appeared in Corrie as three different minor characters, but he is also known for films like Calendar Girls, The Slammer, Diddy Movies, and Benidorm, to name a few. Speaking on Lorraine in January, Amy shared a conversation with Ted about being cast as Christina in Corrie. She explained: "When I rang him to tell him I got the part, because we often chatted about it, his advice was 'don't underestimate how you're going to feel standing in the pub, in the Rover's. Cause it's as overwhelming as you think it's going to be." Their sister Kate Robbins is a famous singer, songwriter and actress who reached number two in the UK charts in the 80s with the song More Than in Love. Her daughter is also the actress and comedian Emily Atack, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity back in 2018. Their sister Emma is also an actress, while another sibling, Jane, is an artist, actress, and musician who was a member of the UK's Eurovision entry in 1980 called Prima Donna. Amy's first cousin once removed is none other than The Beatles' Paul McCartney. As reported by the Daily Star, Paul is Amy's mum's cousin, and she has said of him: "He's everything you would hope him to be, genuinely lovely." (Image: ITV) Speaking on Lorraine, Amy said that acting is 'the family business' and said: "We didn't really get much of a choice when it came to it. "Lots of families have a business that you all go into and it does seem to be the one that we've all [done]. "It's what our parents did, my dad was in variety, it's what we all grew up with. It's what we all knew best. And now it's carrying on to the generation beneath us. A lot of my nephews and most of my nieces. My own daughters are show signs of that kind of thing." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
