Imagine the surprise when boxing fans learned Katie Taylor, the pride of Irish boxing, is officially married! In an exclusive chat with The Irish Sun, her dad, Pete Taylor, didn’t hold back, confirming that his daughter had tied the knot while the world speculated.

Days before her thrilling trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano, the Wicklow fighter was spotted with a ring on her left hand, igniting rumors that had fans buzzing. Was she really married? Well, Pete cleared the air during his appearance on the Anything Goes podcast with James English, where rumors flew about Katie's marital status.

"Ever since the fight there with Katie, people are seeing the two of us back together, even some of the s*** you hear about that," he shared. Refuting the idea that Katie never got married due to him holding her back, he exclaimed, "Katie's married, you know, and I'm thinking, 'where are you getting this s*** from?'"

The father-daughter duo reunited to prepare for her stunning victory over Serrano on July 11, which marked a remarkable chapter in Katie's already illustrious career. Pete, who coached Katie to her Olympic gold medal win in London 2012, had taken a step back from training after separating from Katie's mom, Bridget. Since turning pro post-Rio 2016, Katie has been trained by Ross Enamait, but there’s no denying that the bond between father and daughter has remained strong.

In a heartfelt revelation, Pete emphasized, "We posted online that we were training together, but we were still very close. I was still over visiting her." He sought to set the record straight about their relationship, insisting, "This is a media thing that me and Katie got back together for the fight. It's not true. We've always been close, and we've been talking for the last five or six years."

He continued, "She just asked me to help out in this camp, and that was it - but it wasn't that we rekindled this relationship. We were close all the time." This revelation sparked a conversation about public interest in celebrity lives, with Pete quipping, "People love these stories. I think they must have boring lives or something because they're so interested in other people's lives." He also humorously noted how their recent posts went viral, adding, "I was actually shocked that it went so viral, to tell you the truth."
