Bomb disposal squad called in after 'explosion' in shed A man was injured in the explosion and later arrested EOD officers at the scene of a "small explosion" in a shed on Chapel Road in Prestwich (Image: JMG Press ) Bomb disposal officers were called to a property in Prestwich after an "explosion" left a man with minor injuries. The man, in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of production of Class B drugs. Police were initially called to the scene on Chapel Road in Prestwich following reports of a "small explosion" in a back garden. After arriving at the scene and setting up a cordon, Greater Manchester Police sent for backup from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad. EOD officers joined GMP and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service at the scene, where they entered the shed to see what had caused the "explosion". In a statement, GMP said that they believe this to be an "isolated incident" and "there is no risk to the wider public". Article continues below A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We are currently responding reports of an explosion in a shed on Chapel Road in Prestwich this afternoon (Friday 2 May 2025). (Image: JMG Press ) "Officers alongside colleagues in the fire service attended the property and it was established there was a small explosion in the back garden within a shed. One man in his 40s has suffered minor injuries to his hands and he has been arrested on suspicion of production of Class B drugs. "A cordon remains in place at the property as a precaution whilst officers and emergency services work in the area to establish what has happened and we would like to thank the public for their support and cooperation at this time."
