Did you know that millions of girls around the world are stepping into the world of technology, defying stereotypes and claiming their space in STEM? Each year, on October 11, we celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, shining a spotlight on the remarkable journeys of young women breaking barriers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This year, Samsung Electronics is showcasing how their initiatives, like Solve for Tomorrow and Samsung Innovation Campus, are empowering girls to become trailblazers in their communities.

Meet Vaishnavi Kambar from Bangalore, India. Once a coding novice, she transformed her life through SIC, finding herself on stage as a winner of HackToFuture 3.0. Kambar's journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and mentorship. With her mentor’s unwavering support, she learned not just to code but to present ideas and tackle problems with confidence. “Just take the plunge, even if you feel like you don’t belong,” she advises, proving that every step into the unknown builds strength.

Then there's Hasmik Kettsyan from Armenia, who turned her feelings of isolation as the only girl in tech into a mission for inclusivity. SIC provided her with the encouragement she needed to flourish, and now she’s dedicated to inspiring the next generation by organizing tech camps and writing a book on innovation. “Different perspectives lead to better solutions,” she suggests, highlighting the importance of diversity in tech.

Meanwhile, Ziyun Xu, a recent NYU Shanghai graduate now headed to Yale, illustrates the transformative power of hands-on challenges. Her experience with Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow not only honed her skills in environmental science but also taught her the profound impact of community service. Working alongside farmers in Guangxi, she developed sustainable solutions that were initially met with skepticism but resulted in heartfelt gratitude. “Every girl should believe that her ideas can change the world,” Xu emphasizes, encouraging young minds to dream big.

As Samsung continues to expand its global initiatives, like Girls’DAI, which connects girls with cutting-edge AI technology, the message remains clear: empowering girls is crucial for a smarter, fairer, and more diverse future. Katharina Strohmeier of Samsung Germany reflects, “Anyone who wants to shape AI needs these perspectives.” With programs like Solve for Tomorrow and Samsung Innovation Campus, the company is committed to opening doors for the next generation of innovators worldwide.
