Boxer Billy Moore documented the troubling incident on Friday, April 18, in Coventry. Billy shared a 25-minute video on YouTube where an unidentified man recounted being attacked near the Coventry Transport Museum. Defending the victim, Billy captured footage of one gang member aggressively stating: 'You got your camera in there, but I do not give a f***'. The situation escalated into a physical altercation, with punches thrown as Billy urged the group to 'leave it. ' The altercation continued as Billy filmed and was encircled by the group, one of whom confrontationally questioned: "What are you trying to do with your camera?" Article continues below He said:"I want to say a big thank you as well for everyone who came and showed some support when I was outnumbered. It is really difficult to film and try defend yourself at the same time. You have got a camera in one hand, and they know it, but once it goes away, it becomes a different story." Liverpool's own Billy conveyed the ordeal to his 237,000 YouTube followers, with the clip amassing over 500,000 views. He was also spotted navigating the areas of Broadgate and Millennium Place. While strolling past The Flying Standard, Billy recounted that before his visit to Coventry, he had been warned about the city's 'violent' reputation. He then met a local woman who bluntly remarked: "Why do you want to video Coventry?" Billy said he witnessed a heated exchange between a man and a woman, complete with audible expletives, an incident the 52 year old YouTuber labelled as 'mental'. Billy proceeded to Millennium Place near the Coventry Transport Museum, where he engaged with a young representative from Guiding Young Minds, an organisation in the city dedicated to steering individuals away from drug and knife crime in the West Midlands. Coventry City Council and West Midlands Police provided a joint statement to CoventryLive, saying: "Coventry City Council and lots of other agencies regularly engage and talk with a number of the people featured in the video. Most are not known rough sleepers, but we try to find longer-term solutions to what are often very complex problems." Article continues below They added, "Change Grow Live (CGL) operates the Adult Drug and Alcohol Recovery and Treatment Service, and they aim to ensure that those who need our support with substance misuse can access help in a way that best meets their needs. Guiding Young Minds, who were featured in the clip, run a valuable project, which takes its message out, especially to younger people in the community. "Although there are no easy solutions to the issues highlighted in the clip, we want to stress that Coventry is a great, diverse and welcoming place to visit.
