The Only Fools and Horses star whose son is a huge Hollywood actor Wanda Ventham joined the cast of Only Fools and Horses in 1989 Only Fools and Horses (L-R) Roger Lloyd Pack as Trigger, Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney Trotter, John Challis as Boycie/Boyce, David Jason as 'Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter, Sue Holderness as Marlene and Buster Merryfield as Uncle Albert Only Fools and Horses has become such a cherished series that its stars are now household names across the nation. The comedic lives of the Trotters and their family and friends won over the country when the show first hit our screens in 1981. While the original cast members often get the most praise, those who joined in later seasons also managed to win over the audience. One such addition was Pamela Parry, played by Wanda Ventham. ‌ Ventham's character, who appeared sporadically between 1989 and 1992, was the somewhat snobbish mother of Rodney's love interest, Cassandra, reports MyLondon. Pamela brought her own style of comedy, often poking fun at her husband's childish behaviour, his regular drinking sessions at the Nags Head, and even the wedding reception held at the pub. ‌ Wanda Ventham as Pamela Parry in Only Fools and Horse (Image: BBC ) At the time, Ventham was a familiar face on television, having starred in numerous TV shows and films. However, for today's audiences, it's her son, Benedict Cumberbatch, who's the real star. It's likely a testament to his exceptionally talented parents. ‌ The series received numerous awards, including recognition from BAFTA, the National Television Awards and the Royal Television Society. It was voted Britain's Best Sitcom in a BBC poll. The cast members will always be renowned for their roles in Only Fools and Horses, with the show still attracting new fans and old, tuning in when episodes are replayed on TV.
