'Not good enough': Andy Burnham intervenes as Manchester City fans fume over FA Cup final kick-off silence 'It is a disgrace' say angry supporters Manchester City fans making their way into Wembley for last Sunday's semi-final against Nottingham Forest (Image: The FA via Getty Images ) Andy Burnham says it is 'not good enough' that angry fans are still in the dark over the kick-off time for this year's FA Cup final. Manchester City booked their place in the final for the third consecutive year after beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 in their semi-final at Wembley last Sunday. ‌ They will now take on Crystal Palace in the showpiece back at the national stadium on Saturday, May, 17. ‌ However, almost a week after both finalists were confirmed, and now just a fortnight before the game, one of the highlights of the country's annual sporting calendar, is due to take place, the kick-off time has still not been confirmed. The last two FA Cup finals have kicked off at 3pm due to their 'high risk' status by police given the back-to-back Manchester derbies. The match is shown on both major terrestrial channels, BBC and ITV. And it has been reported that BBC Sport are trying to get the kick-off time set for 3pm, given they are showing the Eurovision Song Contest later that evening. One City fan said: "FA Cup date is set a year in advance Eurovision is set a year in advance Why the hell is this still to be decided? @AndyBurnhamGM please take this up." ‌ The Greater Manchester Mayor replied saying: "Will do. It’s not good enough. Will raise with the @fa." City fans (shown on Wembley Way before last year's final) who are wanting to make plans are fuming at the delay (Image: PA ) Fans, who are desperately wanting to book travel and accommodation, have hit out at the radio silence. Scores say they are unable to book trains until they know what time it will start and finish. ‌ The last direct train to Piccadilly is at 9.01pm and a later kick-off time would leave supporters with very few rail options to return to Manchester that day. Another fan said: "It really is a disgrace Andy. Stalemate because of TV interests. The only factor not being considered is the comfort and travel plans of the City and Palace fans. Tell the @FA to show some backbone and make it 3pm." Andy Burnham has said he will raise the matter with The FA (Image: Daily Mirror ) ‌ To which Mr Burnham replied: "It absolutely should be 3pm." Other supporters also expressed their fury at the situation. "State of football nowadays no one gives a toss about the fans it’s just about when’s best for the broadcasting companies absolute joke" one said.
