Four-year-old child dies after being hit by car in Ocean Grove, Victoria

A four-year-old child has died when they were hit by a car in Ocean Grove, Victoria. Police say a car was manoeuvring in the car park of Ocean Grove Library on the corner of The Avenue and Presidents Ave about 4.50pm on Friday when the driver suddenly accelerated. The car left the car park, crossed the nature strip and then crossed Presidents Ave, where it hit a four-year-old child. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today The child died at the scene. Credit: 7NEWS Major Collision Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill said the child’s death was “absolutely tragic”. He said police were investigating exactly why the car accelerated. “Our sympathies go out to the family of the four-year-old who were present at the time of the collision,” he said.
