Imagine this: a dramatic scene from a Netflix movie is being blasted through the wilderness to keep wolves at bay! That’s right, the iconic fight from Marriage Story featuring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver is now a real-life scare tactic against predatory wolves threatening livestock in Oregon.

According to an eye-opening report by the Wall Street Journal, Paul Wolf (yes, that’s his real name), a district supervisor with the United States Department of Agriculture, took a rather unconventional approach to protect farmers’ herds. He started to play the intense argument from the film to signal to the wolves that humans are not to be trifled with. “I need the wolves to respond and know that, hey, humans are bad,” he stated, showing that sometimes, art imitates life in the wildest ways.

So how does this bizarre operation unfold? Drones equipped with thermal cameras fly through the night skies, scouting for wolves. Once detected, they deploy a series of alarming soundtracks that includes everything from fireworks and gunshots to the heated exchange between Johansson and Driver. Even the thunderous riffs of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck have joined the mix in this unconventional defense strategy.

This peculiar yet effective solution appears to be working. In the Klamath Basin of southern Oregon, after a worrying spree where 11 cows were killed by wolves in just 20 days, the drones stepped in. Over the next 85 days of surveillance, the wolf attacks decreased significantly, with only two cows reported killed. Maybe the wolves thought twice about crossing paths with Kylo Ren’s emotional outbursts!

Marriage Story, released in 2019, presents a heart-wrenching tale of a couple grappling with separation and the challenges of a bi-coastal divorce while navigating the complexities of parenthood. This film, with its gripping performances, received a solid 8/10 from IGN.
