A man has been seriously injured following a shooting in West Bromwich. The A4301 Trinity Way is currently closed following the shooting at around 11.35am today (May 1). A short time later, a man in his 20s arrived at hospital with a gunshot injury. West Midlands Police remain at the scene this afternoon, with motorists urged to avoid the area. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’re appealing for witnesses after a shooting on West Bromwich High Street today. "It’s believed a vehicle was shot at, near the junction with Trinity Way, at around 11.35am. "A short time later, a man in his 20s arrived at hospital with a gunshot wound. "He remains in a serious condition this afternoon. "Officers remain at the scene this afternoon carrying out inquiries, and patrols are being stepped up to offer reassurance. "Motorists are being urged to avoid the area. "We would appeal for anyone with CCTV, dashcam or other footage, or any other information, to get in touch with us via 101 or Live Chat on our website, quoting log 1976." An alert issued by traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A4031 Trinity Way in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to police incident from A41 The Expressway to A4182 Kelvin Way. "Congestion to surrounding routes around West Bromwich including A41 The Expressway, Birmingham Road, Kelvin Way and Kenrick Way as traffic seeks an alternative "Diversion - bus services 74 and 89."
