Fire crews are this afternoon tackling a fire at a building in Liverpool city centre. Bixteth Street, in the city's business district, is cordoned off and smoke has been seen coming from the roof of the building, at the junction with George Street. Crowds of office workers and passers-by can be seen watching on as Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service crews deal with the blaze. A number of fire engines were stationed on the street. There was also a police presence and tape preventing vehicles from entering the street close to the junction with Ormond Street.
