Major Eurostar Disruption Leaves Passengers Stranded for Hours

Travelers aboard a Eurostar train have faced significant inconvenience as they remain stranded for over three hours due to a major disruption. Passengers expressed their frustration, particularly highlighting the service's failure to communicate effectively regarding the ongoing situation. One passenger recounted their experience, stating that they were trapped in a carriage with the train completely immobilized, the doors firmly shut, and no updates from the staff.
The train is reportedly stalled near Guines, a location not far from Calais. Some passengers have even reported that paramedics are present on board, attending to individuals who have begun to feel unwell due to the conditions. One man disclosed to The Mirror: "We’re stuck on Eurostar tracks near Guines. We’ve been here for about four hours now. They mentioned that both engines are out of service, and a new train is needed to transport us. They've said it would arrive by 1:30 PM, but we are still waiting with no signs of it arriving. Conditions are deteriorating—there are paramedics on board who are triaging people, and we have no access to toilets or adequate ventilation. Communication from the staff has been non-existent. The only updates we receive are through Twitter," he lamented.
Another frustrated passenger, Serge de Gheldere, took to social media platform X to share his thoughts, commenting: "Almost 3 hours in, and still no news, no air circulation. This isn’t just a simple incident or a stroke of bad luck. @Eurostar is clearly unprepared for such situations. Instead of opening the doors and allowing passengers some relief, only one or two doors are open, leaving people almost suffocating inside. We have asthma patients and infants on board who are struggling to breathe. This is unacceptable."
As the passengers continue to wait, it raises questions about the preparedness of Eurostar for such emergencies and the protocols they have in place to ensure passenger safety and comfort in the event of service disruptions. This incident highlights the critical need for improved communication and contingency planning within the travel industry.
