John Wick Hex to Be Delisted from All Platforms Soon

John Wick Hex, a tactical role-playing game that successfully encapsulated the essence and thrilling vibes of the action films starring Keanu Reeves, is facing an unexpected fate. Originally released in 2019, this game has been a favorite among fans for its strategic gameplay and engaging storytelling. However, in a surprising announcement made by its publisher, Big Fan Games, the game is set to be delisted from all platforms, leaving fans in a scramble to secure their copies.
On July 14, Big Fan Games released a brief statement via Steam, indicating that starting July 17, 2025, John Wick Hex would no longer be available for purchase across any digital storefronts. The abrupt notice left avid gamers with only three days to buy the game before it vanishes from the marketplace. This news is particularly disheartening for fans, as the only other game in the franchise, a virtual reality (VR) title, has also been taken off the shelves, effectively eliminating access to any John Wick game.
The message shared by the publisher read: “To our community, John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on all platforms beginning July 17th, 2025.” The timing of this announcement has caused frustration among players, as there was no prior indication or sale to prepare for such an event. Gamers now face the decision of purchasing the game at its full price of $20 within the limited timeframe or hoping to find a physical copy lingering in stores after the delisting.
In light of the decision, Kotaku has reached out to both Bithell Games, the game's developer, and Lionsgate, the film studio behind the John Wick franchise, to inquire if there is a possibility of the game returning in the future under a new publisher or agreement. In response, the publisher assured that existing owners of the game would still have the ability to download and enjoy John Wick Hex through their digital libraries after the delisting. Furthermore, physical copies of the game will remain functional, though the window for acquiring new digital copies is closing rapidly.
John Wick Hex was developed by Bithell Games, known for other successful titles like Thomas Was Alone and TRON: Catalyst. The game is praised for its unique approach to gameplay, allowing players to meticulously plan their attacks using a limited set of moves, followed by the thrill of witnessing their strategies unfold in real-time—a distinctive experience that effectively mirrors the intense action sequences from the four films and the recently released spin-off, Ballerina. Additionally, the game features voice performances from actors Ian McShane and Lance Reddick, enriching its narrative with an original story that dovetails with the expansive universe of the franchise.
