Ever had a travel day go catastrophically wrong? For TikTok star Meghan Reinertsen, what began as a typical travel day turned into a harrowing nightmare that left both her and fellow passengers reeling. A severe case of food poisoning struck while she was en route to a film premiere, and the fallout was so extreme that a hazmat team was called in to handle the aftermath.

Reinertsen had just finished working as a live-in nanny in Portugal when she felt an ominous “disturbance” deep in her stomach. The day of her travel to Indianapolis was meant to be celebratory—she was excited to attend the premiere of her first SAG-affiliated role as an actor. But little did she know, her body had other plans.

As she boarded her first flight, everything seemed normal at first—but soon, the pressure began to build. “I spent the next 30 minutes in agonizing pain,” she recalled, her face drenched in sweat and tears. “I can only imagine that’s what a contraction feels like.” Feeling trapped by her seatbelt, she eventually made the harrowing decision to venture to the airplane bathroom.

What ensued was a scene that would become the stuff of TikTok legend. “For the next 20 minutes, I [did] more diarrhea than any human should [do] in their entire life,” Reinertsen recounted, only to find herself in an even worse predicament when the urge to vomit hit her. In a desperate attempt to relieve herself, she had to disrobe in the cramped quarters.

In a panic mode, she pushed open the bathroom door and called out for help, stating, “I need help, I need help!” A flight attendant quickly responded, providing her with a plastic bag to manage her dual crises. “They kept checking on me, even calling me by name, offering ginger ale as if that could magically fix everything,” she said.

As the plane descended, the reality of Reinertsen’s condition became evident. The crew, unable to ignore the situation any longer, secured permission from the pilot for her to remain in the bathroom until landing. “I was bracing for impact, but the diarrhea wouldn’t stop,” she recounted. The chaos that followed was so extreme that a hazmat crew was summoned to the scene, leading to the cancellation of the next flight.

Apologizing profusely for the inconvenience, she expressed sincere regret to anyone whose plans were disrupted: “If that flight cancellation changed the trajectory of your life in a really negative way, I’m so sorry.” Once the plane landed, she was wheeled to baggage claim and quickly became a topic of conversation among other travelers who recognized her as “the woman” from the flight.

Miraculously, Reinertsen made it to her hotel and, undeterred, prepared for the premiere. “I looked snatched, never looked so good in my life, I am glowing, I am so skinny,” she exclaimed. However, the night took another turn as her bowels once again betrayed her, leading to yet another embarrassing episode with ruined bed sheets.

Fans flooded her TikTok with concern, bombarding her with questions about her illness. One user, who claimed to have been on the same flight, shared their own traumatic experience, while others offered unsolicited advice on how to avoid such disasters in the future. “I don’t leave my house without Imodium! The Lord’s medicine,” one commenter suggested, while another quipped, “You couldn’t WATERBOARD this information out of me!”
