Rashford, the 27-year-old Manchester United outcast on loan at Villa, is said to be in Dubai as he begins his rehab from a possible season-ending hamstring injury. ‌ The England international has been like his old self since joining Villa in January, featuring significantly as they reached the last eight of the Champions League, the last four of the FA Cup and aim for a top-five finish in the Premier League. ‌ Villa are also thought to have a deal in place to sign Rashford for £40m should United decide that his time at Old Trafford is up. But Shearer claims all of that is now up in the air again. He told gaming website Betfair: “Rashford's season-ending injury is a big blow for him because, with Aston Villa, he was getting back to somewhere near his best. “And it’s a significant blow too for Villa because they've now got one fewer option up front when they are still trying to qualify for next season's Champions League. Article continues below “As for Rashford's future, we don't know what Manchester United or Marcus are thinking. We also don't know how much Villa can spend in terms of a transfer fee and his contract. “All of those things are difficult to weigh up and, unless you're inside United or Villa, it's difficult to judge.” Rashford has made 14 appearances for Villa since arriving at the club - 10 in the Premier League and four in the Champions League. He has scored twice, assisted in a further four goals and struck up a productive relationship with fellow loanee Marco Asensio. Article continues below Shearer added: “There's no doubt that Rashford’s ability is still there, and (Villa boss) Unai Emery has got that out of him since he arrived on loan.
