Police were called at 11.15am today, May 1, to reports of a disturbance on Odette Street in Gorton. Officers attended, and a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault. ‌ A section of the road remains cordoned off, with reports of blood visible on the porch of a property. ‌ CSI and a heavy police presence have been spotted in the area as detectives carry out work. Images from the scene showed a white van parked up with the door thrown open, with personal objects strewn across the ground. It also showed a broken window of a door of one of the properties. Police scene in Gorton Article continues below One resident, Naseeba Ahmed, said: "It was around 11.30am that it happened, I was at home and just heard screaming and someone running past the house. Then the police came. I'm not really sure what it was about." Another said it appeared to be ‘a fight or a brawl’ between two neighbours. “One wanted to get inside the other's house so he was banging on the door and he smashed through it with his hand. He got a bad cut on his arm and there was blood everywhere." ‌ One person said one of the men ‘had blood all over him’, and confirmed it was a ‘dispute’. "One of them said something had been stolen from his car and he asked me if I had any footage but my Ring doorbell was offline,” they said. There was a lot of blood - it was all over him. “Then the police and ambulance came. There's been problems on this street before, arguments and littering. “We just want the street clean. We want to sell our house as soon as we can - we want out of here." ‌ Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that a man, in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with serious ‘but not life-threatening’ injuries. Both suspects remain in custody for questioning.
